Anyone
who follows the launch cycle closely knows the CS5 announcement is
close at hand and it’s evidenced by new beta versions on Adobe
Labs, Adobe posted sneak-peeks (add a link here) and previews from the product evangelists on Adobe
TV. So, are you waiting for CS5? It
could cost you $200 more to hold out for CS5. You may not know,
but Adobe rewards loyal customers who don't "version skip", and that
reward is a $200 savings on a current version Suite to Suite upgrade.
Upgrading from a Suite older than the previous version will cost an
extra $200 for that upgrade. That means if you own CS3 and
upgrade to CS5 you pay $200 more than someone who upgrades from CS4. The
simple alternative to save that money is to get your CS3 to CS4 upgrade
before the ship of CS5, and then get a free CS5 upgrade once it begins
to ship. The Adobe post-announce upgrade policy for single users
allows for any purchase within 30 days prior to the official announce
date a free upgrade – read more about it here. While
no one outside of Adobe knows when that announce date is, if you do
want an email as soon as CS5 announces, let me know and I'll make sure
you know the date of the announce in order to avoid you from having to
pay the additional money for holding out on the last upgrade cycle. One
last thing to note is that if you own a version of Adobe or Macromedia
products from before the acquisition in 2005, upgrade eligibility for
those products ends with CS4. Adobe only allows upgrades from the last
three product versions. Most versions for the Creative Products that
were released prior to the acquisition fall into that category
(Photoshop, Illustrator, Creative Suite, Studio MX, etc.). I’d be
happy to contact you to discuss upgrade eligibility for any of your
Adobe or Macromedia products. If you have any other questions about getting the Adobe products that
are right for you, let me know. After all, 9 years of Adobe
professional sales experience has to help make the world a better place. Here are a few other bit of information that should be of interest to those considering an Adobe software purchase: - Free 30-day Trials are available here for most of Adobe's most popular applications
